Reciprocal Playing Arrangements
Alresford Golf Club members with full playing-rights can take advantage of reciprocal playing arrangements agreed with a number of like-minded golf clubs. In most cases there is no fee payable – the Club Secretary will inform the member at the time of a request if there are any special conditions or a small fee. Founded in 1902, Rowlands Castle Golf Club is a delightful place to enjoy a challenging and exciting round of golf, where you will need to display good course management skills to score well here. The club has made a substantial investment in full course irrigation and drainage, which means the course is playable all year round.
Waterlooville Golf Club near Portsmouth in Hampshire was founded in 1907 when a group of gentlemen met with the aim of forming a golf club in the area. The Club is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and welcome. Our current course was designed by the great Henry Cotton
Lee on the Solent is a rare jewel in terms of modern golf trends. This Parkland / Heathland style of course is over 100 years old but has managed to resist the standard of extending its length in answer to modern technology improvements in equipment.
Our superb 18 hole par 69 golf course which opened in 1994 was designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clarke. It is laid out on naturally undulating parkland set amongst mature oak woodland giving the impression that the course has been around for many more years.
Golf is incredibly peaceful at Tidworth – at any time you only view a handful of golfers as the layout meanders its way around the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain. From the higher ground are some striking views over the Plain. Whilst the course owes its existence to the military (in 1895 the war department began development of a major military training area in Tidworth), Tidworth Garrison Golf Club owes an even greater debt to legendary golf course architect Harry Shapland Colt. H.S. Colt is world-renown for such golfing jewels as Muirfield, Sunningdale and Wentworth.
Lamberhurst Golf Club is a friendly members’ club founded in 1890, which is owned and run by its members for its members, and has one of the finest parkland golf courses in Kent. Our 6,448 yard 18-hole course boasts glorious views of Kent’s rolling countryside and runs through parkland of outstanding beauty on both sides of the River Teise. It provides golfers with some real challenges, with the course’s subtle slopes and undulations testing even the lowest of handicappers.
Described by ‘Golf Monthly’ as a “hidden gem,” the 6,305 yards par-70, 18-hole course with 72 bunkers at High Post has, over the years, received many complimentary remarks. Reputed as one of the finest venues in the country, perhaps the highest praise for the course came from Peter Alliss who placed the par-4 ninth in the list of his dream 18 holes. The easy-walking course is characterized by its undulating well-bunkered fairways, deep well disguised grass hollows, all year round playability and excellent turfs.
Bramley Golf Course is a par 69 parkland course near Guildford in Surrey. The fairway, tee and green irrigation system keeps the course in great condition all year round and excellent drainage means that the number of days on temporary greens is kept to a minimum. Don’t be fooled by the length of the course – carefully positioned bunkering, water hazards and well protected greens will test every golfer, regardless of ability.
Rushmore is an 18-hole golf course set high on the chalk of the Cranborne Chase, with the unusual distinction of having 9 holes in Dorset & 9 in Wiltshire. Set in the heart of the historic Rushmore Park, the course is a haven of peace, with only the abundant wildlife & spectacular views to distract from your game.
Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club
Set in the glorious Wiltshire countryside close to the medieval City of Salisbury, the course offers magnificent views for miles around. It is probably the finest downland course in Southern England where visitors are made most welcome. All 27 holes are maintained to a very high standard by a dedicated team of professionals, with the quality of the greens and the presentation of the course highly praised by golfers throughout the year.
1890 Club Reciprocals
A number of golf clubs founded in 1890, like Alresford, have agreed to celebrate their quasquicentennial (125 year) anniversary by offering fellow clubs reciprocal playing rights. As these clubs are located throughout Great Britain, they are ordered by driving mileage from Alresford.
Datchet Golf Club, Berkshire

Since 1890 Datchet Golf Club has been providing a tough challenge for everyone that plays it. The course runs along the River Thames under the watchful eye of Windsor Castle. This is a nine hole course, with fifteen tees, so only three holes are repeated on the back nine. At 6087 yards it is not a course that can be taken for granted, and as the Pros find out when they play, it commands respect. As a relatively flat parkland course, it is also easy walking and provides an enjoyable day’s golf for all golfers, irrespective of age and handicap.
North Wiltshire Golf Club, Wiltshire

The course, just five minutes from the A4 or the A361, is a wonderful example of a downland golf course. While it is relatively short by modern standards – 6414 yards off the white tees – the course tests even the lowest handicap golfer. Every hole poses a different question, a small green, an elevated tee and so on. While there is little or no water to contend with, the sloping fairways and strategically placed bunkers will give you plenty to think about. At its highest point – the 6th hole – you are 700 ft above sea level and the views are awesome. The terrain ensures that the course drains well and very few golfing days are lost each year.
Chorleywood Golf Club, Hertfordshire

Chorleywood Golf Club was founded in 1890 and is the oldest in Hertfordshire. Its gently undulating 9 hole course is set in the heart of the picturesque Chorleywood Common and presents a fair, but demanding, challenge for golfers of all levels and experience. We have an enviable reputation for hospitality and sportsmanship so that visitors are always made to feel welcome. The modern clubhouse provides all the facilities and sustenance that a weary golfer might need and is also an excellent venue for the many social activities which members and their guests can enjoy. Lying only five minutes drive from junction 18 of the M25, the club is easily accessible by those coming from outside the local area to play.
Wildernesse Golf Club, Kent

A fine, tight inland course recognised by the R&A as an Open Qualifying venue and a regular host for EGU and County events. Originally laid out in 1890, the Professional Golfer appointed to design the initial layout is sadly unknown although James Braid, most famous for his creation of the King’s and Queen’s courses at Gleaneagles, made a number of design changes including the new Par 3 5th hole which came into play in 1929. It is heavily wooded with tree-lined fairways and is more than capable of defending itself against longer hitters with small and undulating greens. It is a course where both straight driving and attention to well-placed bunkers is essential. Although it has few slopes and affords easy walking, it provides an entertaining battleground and examination for golfers of all abilities.
Eltham Warren Golf Club, London

Eltham Warren Golf Club, founded in 1890, is one of England’s oldest nine hole courses, and is situated on the outskirts of Eltham, South East London. Woodford Golf Club, Essex
